Greetings New Hope Lutherans and Friends
“Epiphany” in the Church year is 5 or 6 January.
Some say that 5 January is not Epiphany because 5 January is always the 12th Day of Christmas. Therefore Epiphany is 6 January. Some disagree and opt for 5 January.
What I have found serves most Christians best, is pick a Sunday closest to 5 or 6 January and observe. We did.
Epiphany means to become “manifest”. Become “known”.
Whether considering science, theology, or both, we are aware of a creative energy which set the process of time and space, all matter therein….including you and me, into existence.
We believe this energy is personal, in the person of Jesus. We grapple with the ethics of Jesus’ to orchestrate our lives. We trust our eternal wellbeing to the grace of God, as shown by Jesus. We discipline ourselves to live and serve as Jesus disciples. Imperfect. Forgiven. Empowered.
Therefore, if you want to grapple with life meanings, in a safe place, amongst safe people, and collectively do some good…for others in the name of Jesus, welcome to New Hope!
Because….we’re each beloved points of precious life adding to God’s Epiphany.
Your Interim Pastor
